This painting is an ode to the Rio Grande Valley. Kirstyn’s paternal family is from
Mission, Texas where they farmed citrus and ran a grocery store. She spent Christmas and summers in The Valley where you pick limes from the backyard for your sweet tea, ruby red grapefruit is always for breakfast, aloe vera as large as a person grows and is on the ready for sunburns, and exotic animals are always spotted.
