Janelle W Anderson
Janelle W Anderson was born in Houston, TX and moved to Colorado at age 12. She earned a BFA in painting from Metro State University of Denver in 2011.
Due to her experience with mortality at a young age, existentialism and the ephemeral are key subjects of exploration through her work. Her early work was primarily drawings on layered mylar, which created a hazy, ghost like effect, evocative of dreams and memory. Over time, Anderson’s work evolved into surrealist compositions rendered in acrylic on canvas.
Anderson was awarded the Nagel Art Thesis Award and Honorable Mention for her BFA thesis installation. She has also been awarded a residency with the Firehouse Art Center in Longmont, CO, during which she is creating a site specific installation that will be on view in September, 2021.
Anderson currently lives in Denver, CO with her husband and daughter.
