hard to find one of a kind original art

John-Michael Stubbs

JM Stubbs has always been drawn to perspective, using it to add dimension or distortion to flat canvases. While studying art in Florence, he fell in love with the Trecento period, a pivotal time before the Renaissance, where shading and color gave curvature to figures without true point perspective. His work blends these early techniques with modern tools, using drop shadows to create flattened figures and striking depth. Inspired by the melancholy landscapes of spaghetti westerns and Texas history, Stubbs reimagines the romanticized American frontier, paying homage to its cinematic & history.
